The Doors of Brooklyn Heights...

I just love my new neighborhood! We have been here since July and every day it is a treat to walk the dogs and admire the beautiful architecture of Brooklyn Heights. Right around the corner is the Brooklyn Historical Society that I must visit one of these days to get an idea of the history that this neighborhood holds. Here are some photos (from just four short blocks!!!) of the beautiful front doors that I have the pleasure of viewing with each walk. It just makes you wonder who once lived in these homes and what it looks like inside...

hoot... hoot...

I have been completely obsessed with owls lately... A bag, a necklace, fabric, ceramic - if it's an owl I'll take it, thank you! Maybe it's because they are nocturnal and I'm an insomniac, or maybe it's because they are so hauntingly beautiful.... I just can't get enough. Here are some for the home.

Looking forward to the day...

...when I live in Minneapolis and I can head over to the Room & Board outlet to furnish my entire home. My hate for my current couch has inspired me to post some of these R&B beauties.

random supermodel sighting...

While walking down the block to my local Starbucks I crossed paths with Shalom Harlow. The funny thing is her awesome boots are what caught my eye, not her looks - actually she was looking pretty haggard... Here she is all glammed up:

And this guy from Make Me a Supermodel on Bravo! Hellooooooooooo! We saw him at our favorite dive bar a while back and again on the train the other day. The best part of seeing him was that my friends and I seriously thought we knew him, like he was a friend from college or something (yes ladies - the men at UCSB are this good looking!) so we went up to him and asked, "Hi - do I know you from somewhere?" Like a totally lame pick-up line... HA!!!

And finally, another Make Me a Supermodeler spotted. This super SKINNY BINNY was in Herald Square the other day... She was super loud and annoying on her cell phone.

Shabby Chic...

I had the great pleasure of attending Apartment Therapy's October Meetup last night and Rachael Ashwell, creator and founder of Shabby Chic was the guest designer. It was fantastic to hear how her parents as an antique doll restorer and antique book dealer influenced her aesthetic and instilled in her an appreciation for the imperfect. I also personally loved to hear how she launched her business with two young children and got it all done while pushing them around flea markets in a double stroller. Here are a few beautiful images from her blog.

An apple a day...

We drove north to The Outhouse Orchard for a little apple picking! It was a perfect Fall day and a much needed retreat from this crazy city.

headboards...

I am so bored with my current headboard... a big brown rectangular tufted suede blah... I look forward to the day when I have the space and time to make one of these beauties for my bedroom...

Here is a great YouTube video on how to make a georgeous headboard all by yourself:

Dear Kate...

I would like to apologize! I was so wrong! For years I couldn't shake the horrible first impression I had of you... that black box purse you were so well known for - I hated it. But while I was out shopping with my friend Jessie last weekend I met a whole new Kate Spade, and I must say, I'm kind of in love with you now.
